"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved." (John 3:16 - 17 KJV)

Hello to the great Newbold Baptist Church!

We hope you’ve all had a great Christmas and New Year, I can’t believe we’re into February already! We wanted to send a short update to let you know how things are going here and to once again thank you all for your prayers and support!

January has been an incredibly busy month for us! The team arrived early January, we had to do a visa run to Malaysia, we relaunched the entire youth department at the church we’re working with and we started the schools work here. I think it would be fair to say that the last few weeks have been eventful!!

But God has been so gracious to us!! Despite the schools being reluctant to allow us in at first, we are now doing 9 pieces of ministry every week in both Thai and international schools, including sports coaching, drama workshops, one-to-one mentoring and loads more!

In an average week we currently have the privilege of working with approximately 160 young people!

Needless to say this is keeping us pretty busy!! One of the things I’m most excited about is a children’s club we are running at the ‘Life Home Project’, a home for people affected by HIV/AIDS. The kids are amazing!! It’s a creative music club where we teach basic rhythm, music theory and generally have fun with the kids, then finishing with a bible based story.

The biggest challenge we face – surprisingly isn’t the language barrier – but the complete lack of resources. So if you have any art and craft material, old recorders or small percussion instruments that you fancy sending across, it really would be a huge blessing!

Talking of learning Thai, we’re still having lessons and trying to speak Thai with the young people at every available opportunity. On one of these occasions I was asked; “what do you love?” to which I replied in Thai, looking at the female associate minister “I love your husband.” In my defence, there’s not much difference between my and yours in Thai. Oh dear.

Fortunately everyone knew I’d got it wrong so all rumours of scandal were avoided!

Unfortunately the youth found it so funny they feel the need to mock me constantly about it.
It’s ok though, Nic’s forgiven me!!

There is a newsletter on its way (hopefully 2-3weeks) so watch this space!

God bless

Nic and Sarah
