Newbold Baptist Church - Milnrow Road Closure


Work on repairing the void is now complete, there are now no traffic restrictions.

Work on repairing the void is progressing well. Roadworks now occupy one half of the width of the road outside the church. Traffic is being controlled by means of one way traffic lights between Stamford Street and Cayley Street

16th February 2020

Please be aware that (as of Saturday 25th) there are emergency roadworks on Milnrow Rd right outside the church building, and a short section of the main road is closed. You can still access Church Road from the Rochdale side of Milnrow Rd, and get to Worsley St (for parking at the back of church) from the Milnrow side of Milnrow Rd. You cannot drive between the two. Plan your journey tomorrow!

Milnrow Road is closed after void found under road surface

It may not be possible to travel to Newbold Baptist Church, Milnrow Road by your usual route.

Milnrow Road is closed to through traffic from it's junction with Kingsway/Albert Royd Street to Fishwick Street by the Railway Bridge.

If travelling to Newbold Baptist Church these are your best alternative routes:

  1. From Kingsway by Gordon Riggs Nursery. Turn down Moss Bridge Road, cross the canal bridge and take second left onto Crawford Street. Take first right onto York Street and second left onto Channing Street.Taking the first right will take you onto Church Road, Newbold Baptist Church being at the end of that road.
  2. From Oldham Road coming from Rochdale turn left onto Fishwick Street (coming from Royton/Oldham turn right onto Fishwick Street). Turn right onto Dodgson Street and take second turn on left onto Crawford Street. Take third turning on left onto York Street. Take second left onto Channing Street and first right onto Church Road, Newbold Church being at the end of the road.

It may be possible to get to Church Road from Milnrow Road if approaching from Rochdale but the road has been reduced to a single lane approaching the Church Road turning. You may be able to turn right onto Moss Street, left onto Bilbury Street and a further left onto Church Road.

There are no problems if walking.
