Yesterday (7th January 2018), we took a look at living the God-given dream and beforehand the Lord reminded us that He wants us to soar and would fully restore us if we would believe and reach to Him.
We introduced ourselves to the phrase 'get rid' and acknowledged that there's often a clean-up process necessary in our lives. We ought to be open to the Lord for His work of sanctification, we'll call it pruning.
We learned too that our comfort can be our enemy when it comes to building for the sake of the Kingdom. It is perfectly possible to be comfortably serving to 10% of our capacity!
Strength of character usually requires a deep work of the Holy Spirit through testings and seasons of hardship and a resolve to allow suffering to finish its work is often what is necessary. This will mould us and fit us for what lies ahead. It's part of the equipping and preparation process and even though unpleasant at the time, fruitfulness is the result. Who would have thought that discipline would be part of our training?! (Heb 12:11)
We must battle unbelief and really press through sometimes so that we stand on our irrevocable calling that God has placed on our lives... and the timing of our progression is all-important. So too is not losing hope!
God's ways and God's wisdom gives us much needed direction, so we gather from Proverbs 3.
Central to any aspirations to serve in the Kingdom of God is our utter dependence on Jesus. We keep our eyes fixed on Him and we remember frequently that without Him, we can do... yes, we are branches that MUST have connection in the Vine! Says Tozer, "I venture to suggest that the one vital quality which they (the great saints) had in common was spiritual receptivity. Something in them was open to heaven , something which urged them God-ward... they had spiritual awareness and they went on to cultivate it until it became the biggest thing in their lives. They differed from the average person in that when they felt the inward longing they did something about it. They acquired the lifelong habit of spiritual response." (A W Tozer, The Pursuit of God)
So dream big for 2018 and abide, abide, abide in Him who is our everything!
May your Kingdom dreams become reality and your branch be fruitful this year.
