Saturday 2nd September 2017 - Bible verse:
Romans 6:6-8, 10:9 Given Not Earned by Karen Cowling

“When we were unable to help ourselves, at the right time, Christ died for us, although we were living against God. Very few people will die to save the life of someone else, although perhaps for a good person someone might possibly die. But, God shows his great love for us in this way: Christ died for us while we were still sinners.” Romans 6:6-8 (NCV)

If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9 (NCV)

We have all sinned. Everyone, even if they consider themselves to be a good person, will have done things wrong or thought wrong things at some point in their lives. In Romans 6:6-8 we read how Jesus didn't die for the 'good' people (because he knows none of us can truly be classed as good). No, Jesus died for us when we were in the wrong, and against God.

The only way that we can have the new life that God has ready for us, is to ask Jesus to come into our lives. When we acknowledge that we need God, and so ask him to forgive all our sins and wrongdoings, and when we come to him in faith, then He will be with us and change our lives. We are told this in Romans 10:9

Today pray:

Thank you Jesus that you are Lord, that you have saved me and that you made a way for me to be saved by dying on the cross even when I was against you. Please help me to know you more every day. I ask this in your name Jesus. Amen
