Proverbs 3 - In ALL things

Over the next three days, we are going to be looking at various passages that have been picked by people as passages that have been a particular help to them. Maybe it is a passage that has really spoken to them, or helped them through a situation or a difficult time. Today, we are going to take a look at Proverbs 3, and in particular focus on these well known verses: Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight. (Proverbs 3:5-6)

I want us to pay attention to the word ALL. This is what God wants from us, our all. He wants us to put our whole trust in Him, and in all our ways to acknowledge Him, to turn to Him, and to lean on Him in all aspects of our lives. This is the choice that we have to make. Are we going to give our ALL to Him? In all our ways, in the decisions we make, are we going to trust and depend on our Heavenly Father, or are we going to lean on our own understanding, and put our trust in ourselves?

Isaiah 55:8-9 says "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways," declares the Lord. "As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts."

These two verses in Isaiah 55 give us a good understanding as to why we should put all our trust and acknowledge God in all of our ways, and why we shouldn't lean on our own understanding. God's thoughts are nothing like our thoughts and God's ways are nothing like our ways. They are far higher, and far greater! God says that as far as the heavens are higher than the earth, so His ways are higher than our ways, and His thoughts are higher than our thoughts! Sometimes, what God does may not make sense to us at the time, or we may lack understanding, but all we need to know and believe is that despite that, God knows best! In all things, in all aspects of our lives, in all our situations and circumstances... God knows best!

And Proverbs says that when we choose to put our trust in Him, to lean on Him and acknowledge Him, He will make our paths straight!
