For the last four weeks, many have been glued to the TV as Euro 2016 has been aired, with the final taking place last Sunday evening between Portugal and France. For England, it has once again been a disappointing tournament, however for another of the Home Nations, Wales, it has been a huge success! They went to France for the tournament as underdogs, taking part in their first major tournament in 58 years. They went home as heroes!
So what could Wales' success be put down to? I think it was put nicely by one of the commentators following their 3-1 win over Belgium. He described the Welsh team as a unit, all working together. In Corinthians 12:12 it says "The body is a unit, though it is made up of many parts; and though all its parts, they form one body. So it is with Christ."
So the Welsh team was made up of many parts: a goalkeeper, defenders, midfielders, forwards. But the different parts made up one team! They all knew their part. They knew what their job was, what their responsibility was, and they stuck to it! They were united, and heading towards the same outcome... to win the match.
Likewise, the Body of Christ is a unit. It is made up of many parts... but the many parts make up one body, working towards the same outcome. The question is, do you know what your part is? Do you know what your job is, what your gift is? If you are born again, if you have received the forgiveness of your sins through the blood of Jesus, then you are a part of the body! 1 Corinthians 12:27 says "Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it." If your answer to being a part of the body was YES, then you have a part to play! Do you know what your gift is, and what your part in the body is? If the answer is YES, the next question is, are you doing it? If the answer is NO, I don't know what my gift is, what part of the body I have to play, let me encourage you, come to God and seek him! 1 Corinthians 12:18 says "But in fact God has arranged the parts in the body, every one of them, just as he wanted them to be."
We all have a part to play... let's be an active part of the body!
