Bringing Care to the Community

Well, here’s some information of what’s going on at the moment.  Have a read, you might find something of interest to you!

What we look to do

To run a variety of activities that are useful to the Newbold Community.

What we’re not looking to do

To bash you with the Bible (don’t get nervous just because we are a Church Project!)

Why do we do what we do?

Here at the Church, we believe in reaching out to the Community in a practical way to show God’s love.  For God so loved the world… that he did something!

So we here are doing what the Bible says:

“Let’s not love with words but with actions and in truth” 1 John 3:18

“Faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by actions, is dead” James 2:17
 

Newbold Community Playgroup

Run every weekday morning between 9:30am-12:30pm for 2 ½ to 4 year olds.  

Auntie Sue (Playgroup Leader) and the other ‘Aunties’ have lots of fun with the children playing and learning in a very welcoming environment.

Places are available and applications are available during Playgroup hours.  Alternatively, call the church office during the week, and an Application Form can be sent in the post.

The Playgroup is fully OFSTED registered and inspected.  The Playgroup was last inspected in July 2009, and received Outstanding recognition.

Adult Literacy 'Word Perfect' Classes 

Two Adult Literacy Classes (free of charge) are held each week at Newbold Baptist Church.  Each Tuesday and Thursday from 1pm-3pm.

Whether an absolute beginner or looking to improve your reading and writing skills, you will be able to work at your own pace.  Classes will be designed by a qualified tutor to meet your own personal needs in a relaxed, fun and friendly way.

So why not come along and see what you think?

The Zone Youth Club

The Zone Youth Club is for 12-16 year olds.  

It is open Monday-Friday from 3:45pm-5:45pm.

Everyone is made welcome in a relaxed and friendly environment, where there a pool tables, an X Box, a Nintendo Wii, and a tuck shop.  There is also access to the internet.

20p entry guarantees a good time for all!

Wednesday Night Kids Club

Held each Wednesday (term time only) between 7pm and 8pm.

Another young people’s club, this is for 7-12 year olds.  The longest running club of its kind in Rochdale, it continues to be well supported by the kids.

Ask anyone around Newbold between these ages, and they will tell you how much fun they have!!  Why not come along and see for yourself.

Over 60’s Group

A group for the Over 60’s runs at Newbold Baptist Church each fortnight on a Friday afternoon from 12:30pm-2:30pm.

A great time together with others in our aim, including games, craft, dinner and bingo.

Interested?  Please do phone for details and feel free to join us.  If you require, we can arrange transport too.  A very warm welcome awaits you and its all for free!

• Art Classes (Wednesdays 1pm-3pm)
